As noted in the article (and frequently in sci.skeptic,
which is essentially about investigating claims of
paranormal abilities, and not about the current spate of
religious posts), he's been doing this almost all his life.

I met him once. I was living in NYC at the time and had just watched the "Happy Days" episode with him as a magician. A little while later, I went up to Lou Tannen's and there he was standing at the counter. I said; "Hey! I just saw your "Happy Days" episode!" and he said; "Oh good, I should get a check for $1.50 pretty soon!" We talked, he showed me where Houdini's name is on the poster and he mentioned the guy who could read the patterns on classical records telling you exactly what composer and piece it was. He mentioned that if the guy had been claiming to "channel" dead composers to tell him the titles, he (Randi) would have had no way to contradict him and he MIGHT have been the one to win the million dollars!
